El Bocado – Hasselt
El Bocado is a Limburg-based tapas and wine chain that works with Retail Projects on its expansion. For the Hasselt restaurant, Retail Projects delivered the interior.
The dining room takes its character from a metal grid on the ceiling, hung with green plants and filament bulbs. An exposed brick wall, large caged pendant lights and orange velvet chairs add warmth, while the bar, with black cabinets and open shelving, closes off the space at the back. Wooden tables, a decorative tree trunk and a patterned cement-tile floor reinforce the Mediterranean feel. A staircase with the same patterned tiles on its risers, a brick side wall and framed cocktail boards leads to the upper floor.
